I agree with the Hatter, unfortunately, on both counts. Although I expect we'll see the token, intermittent pleasant surprise expanded to maybe a couple, more consistent pleasant surprises. In other words, while the percentage of worthy choices will not go up by sheer numerical probability, the actual count of decent choices HAS to rise...right?

I have ten bucks that says Oscar still won't get the shortlist right, even with twice as many nominees.

Comedies, action, animation, and docs might still be left outside looking in, while twice as many Weinstein-approved weepies fill the bill.

Guess we'll have to wait and see!
